    The Division of Theatre produces seven fully staged productions each year directed by faculty and guest artists. This year’s season includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hurt Village by Katori Hall, Lysistrata, The Yalemihkeinsploke a world premiere by Dylan Guerra, The Moors by Jen Silverman and Sender by Ike Holter

  • Devised Student Work




    Graduate actors create several devised works during their three years including the Character Workshops and The Quartets.



  • Dallas Theatre Center



    Graduates can expect to be cast at least once at the Dallas Theatre Center during their time at SMU, though many are cast multiple times. All graduate students understudy major roles at DTC as well.

  • Other Opportunities



    With the cooperation and guidance of SMU, our graduate students are often cast in productions at local theaters in the DFW area, including Stage West, Shakespeare Dallas and the award-winning Undermain Theater.

  • Greer Garson Theatre

    The Greer Garson Theatre, a gift of the Academy Award-winning actress, prominently features a 366-seat classical thrust stage

  • Margo Jones Theatre

    The Margo Jones Theatre is a 125-seat black box, with seating divided among four platforms that allow directors and designers to choose between multiple configurations.
